PROFESSIONAL CRITIQUE SERVICE with Author Nancy J. Cohen
WHO YOU’RE HIRING
Nancy is experienced as a writing contest judge, conference speaker, mentor, and critique partner. She has been a career novelist for over fifteen years. Her published works include magazine and newsletter articles, thirteen novels, plus a novella.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Nancy says: "I’ll examine the structure, pacing, characterization, point of view, conflict, and other factors in your story and offer guidance on fixing problems. I like to write directly on the pages and will also make minor grammatical corrections and suggest ways to tighten sentences. This is not a book doctor service wherein I rewrite your book. You’ll be expected to make your own changes. However, I will point out what needs to be done to improve your work."
WHY THIS WILL HELP YOU
Sometimes we cannot get a full sense of the structure and pacing on our story because we’re too close to it. An objective eye can see which passages slow the action, where characters act inappropriately, where motivation should be boosted or emotional reactions added. A pro can teach you how to streamline your writing and grab the reader with a hook.
HOW TO FORMAT
Manuscripts must be double spaced with one inch margins, 25 lines to the page, 12 point Courier or Times New Roman font, and Page Numbering. Each chapter should begin on a new page. Pages should not be bound in any way.
WHERE TO MAIL YOUR WORK
Contact Nancy if you are in agreement to these terms and she will tell you how to proceed. Payment in the form of a check is expected with the manuscript, along with a self-addressed stamped large envelope with adequate postage for your manuscript's return.
