Cruising on Adventure of the Seas

The day after Thanksgiving, I sailed with my friend Ann Meier on RCCL’s Adventure of the Seas to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, San Juan, St. Thomas, and St. Croix, along with my cousins Janice and David Sklar. We had a wonderful time together on the ship and touring the ports. Our cabin, 9342, was located mid-ship near the aft elevators, which was convenient to the Windjammer Café two decks up.

The Ship

I’d been on this ship before so am sparing you the ship details. You can read my previous blogs describing the ship HERE. Ann and I enjoyed seeing the bears in the car by the Promenade Café changing shirts each day, and the towel animals are always fun.

My favorite places to hang out on this ship are the Solarium on Deck 11 and the Crown Lounge on Deck 14 (open to Diamond status members and above). The Solarium is adults only so it’s a fairly quiet place to relax.

The Blue Moon lounge on Deck 14 is also a quieter spot with a full view of the pool deck and ocean on either side. Ann and I entered the Crown Lounge each evening at 4:30 to enjoy appetizers before our early dinner seating.

There’s a Johnny Rockets restaurant on the upper decks, along with miniature golf, slides, sports and other activities for the younger crowd. We attended the shows, especially enjoying the ship’s orchestra and production numbers and the ice skating show. As for specialty restaurants, there are several to choose from. Note that you can get a filet mignon in Giovanni’s that’s as good as the steak place, and this dining spot has less of a cost and an ocean view.

Of course, we couldn’t avoid searching for ducks. I give any that I find to my grandson. We had a hard time finding any this time but did score a few of them.
